How can people on here defend themselves as being not racist by saying they just refuse to be PC?
Lol, really? Do some of you really think this means refering to African Americans as Blacks or the other way around?

So by your question, I should deduce that you think being PC automatically means you're not racist? The two are mutually exclusive.
Political correctness creates too much gray area many times. If you're offended by words, you need to grow up and toughen up. We get bogged down in what to say or how to act, rather than following our instincts. Like, profiling. It's PC to say you don't look at people differently. But when the Middle Eastern guy gets on the plane with you, you take a second look. When a family of four is speaking Spanish, you wonder if they're legal. If a black kid is running past you carrying a DVD player, you might consider he's not in a hurry to watch his favorite movie, so much as he's lifted the equipment. This isn't racism. It's common sense.
I prefer to speak to people honestly and directly. Something that being PC doesn't allow. At the same time, I am aware of others' feelings and try to respect them. I don't hate people based on their race. I prefer to hate people on an individual basis. It's more efficient that way, and I don't get graffiti left on my house!

I honestly think a lot of people have no idea what you are referring to when you call them racist in the first place which is why they defend it.
Now, I have a couple serious redneck honkey family members in Texas that are just filled ot the brim with hate and if you called them a racist they'd say "you better believe it" and give you an earful for why.
Outside of insulting an individual specifically because of their race, it can be difficult water to tread.
The truth is, if someone is offended that they are being called a racist there is something to consider. If they have said something offensive to you, then let them know. They would probably apologize and avoid it in the future. No one would defend themselves if they didn't in their hearts feel open and desire fairness for all people. There is a difference between saying something that someone else gets offended by (impossible to avoid) and doing something racist to someone else.
It seems to me, simply opposing taxes and supporting federal immigration laws is enough to be called a racist these days. It is simply an abuse of the word.

Refusing to be politically correct and being racist is not the same thing. Just b/c I call brown skinned people "black" does not mean I'm racist. It just means I refuse to use the term African American. No one calls me Irish American. Does that mean they are racist?

You understand that racism is just a political tool used by Washington to further their political agenda - Americans have always been somewhat racist and always will be - but somehow it has suddenly escalated by 200% in the last 18 months? Absurd to say the least.

Just because I disagree with a popular or liberal position does not make me a racist. But that is what I am often called for that reason.
Liberals If i don't agree with you it does not make me Archie Bunker It just means I am strong enough to have my own ideas and wont be swayed by name calling.
Remember freedom of ideas and discussion there of.

I would not dream of defending myself against a charge of being racist. I am as much a racist as Jesse Jackson is. The only difference is that he makes a living out of it and I don't.

PC is the act of trying to make everybody happy and still make a point.
Not being PC is just making a point.
Racism or not is defined by the point but facts must be taken into account.

PC is just BS
I mean seriously, why should I call someone an 'African American' instead of a black, when that person calls me a white? Isn't that a bit juvenile?
It doesn't make any damn sense

Saying "I'm not PC" is the new thing. Looking like you're not conforming and being a rebel is cool or something. People think they're so radical for saying Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays but in reality, nobody cares.
