Kn owing where you are from will help in answering the question, since the requirements for CA differs from country to country. In USA they do not call it a CA. I guess you are from India. I am from South Africa, but our requirements are very similar. The facts given hereunder is for South Africa, but it is virtually identical for India. please contact one of the large accounting firms in india for confirmation.

    1. You cannot sudy for a CA directly after school. You need to complete an advanced degree in Financial Accounting. Here in South Africa you would need a B.comm Honours or B Compt. Honours with Financial Accounting as a major. Even if you have a Masters in Finance, but not a Financial Accounting; you will not be allowed to write the board exam (CA). Economics only is not sufficient.

    2. You need to perform 2 years of articles with a firm of CA's. Many students do the articles while they are doing their last two years of studying, but the major accounting fims usually would not accept you as a clerk unless you have completed all academic studies. You might however get a contract as an aticling clerk with one of the smaller firms.

    3. You need to write two board exams. If you have satisfied the requirements mentioned under 1 and 2 and passed both board exams, then you may call yourself a CA.

The course of work and study is very tough. CAs are top earners in most countries, and the majority of CFO's of large corporations have a CA.

It might be beneficial for you if you get tested forts to see what is your aptitude for FIGURES. I think ANY person can pass the requirements for a CA if they really want to and work very hard, but if you do not have an aptitude for the work, you will HATE your life.
