Does it sound like I might have herpes?
Obviously I need to get a test done, but I want to know what people think. About 3 weeks ago I had unprotected sex with a guy and two days later I had a fishy discharge but just for one day. Then about 3 days ago I heard some people talking about him and how he has herpes (but you know how people are always spreading rumors about others). So I've been freaking out! I don''t know if it's all in my head but the last 2 days my vagina has been a little tender. Not burning or itching so much, just a bit tender. Last night I spread eagle in the mirror and there was a white bump and redness on my inner labia(?). I almost had a heart attack. A few hours later I looked again and it was still there but I took a kleenex and barely wiped it and it came off. So I don't know if it was a fuzz or something? But the redness is still there a bit and the tenderness, but no other bumps or blisters or anything. The guy swears up and down that he doesn't have herpes and I don't know if I should believe him or not. He leaves next month for prison for 6 years so he proli doesn't care who he burns. If I have herpes I don't know what I'll do with myself! HELP! What do you think it is?!

You need to relax and get checked. It's the only way you'll know for sure. The Herpes Simplex virus can remain dormant for a long time after contracting it but usually appears 2-3 weeks after contact. You are likely just paranoid and over-reacting, but regardless, you should get checked and make sure you have protected sex from here on out. It's not worth the risk. There are STDs much worse than herpes you can contract.

If you just got herpes from this encounter, there wont be enough antibodies in your body to show up on a blood test yet. HSV takes 12-16 weeks to show up on a blood test. If you do decide to get tested for herpes then make sure you specifically ask to be tested for herpes because alot of doctors dont automatically test for it since it isnt life threatening.
