OpenOffice vs Microsoft excel -?

I have Open Office 3.2 and have transfered (emailed) my microsoft excel spread sheet

but can't get it to Open Office or open it - Yes, I know you can change the set up dot

and have done this before but forgotten how to actually change the format to Open Office

from microsoft - any help from the excel pro's out there ?

    OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 will open the xml format Excel files (.xlsx extension) without a problem. You can save your files in OpenOffice.org as .xlsx files also. No conversions necessary.

    i can't answer for Mac as i do not use one. i'm a abode windows guy myself. Linux customers use OpenOffice, i recognize that a lot! As for the transformations between them, OpenOffice touts itself as completely like minded....and that is to an quantity, yet there are differemces, as you probable considered. Your person-friendly "=sum" formulation's artwork ok, yet your more beneficial stronger effective factors do not artwork a similar way. OpenOffice is large once you get used to it, inspite of the undeniable fact that that is the getting used to it over MS workplace!
