Why do people get mad when they tell you the truth?

Unless you are being asked for the truth to someone you don't know for the first time, you cannot really predict on how they will respond.

If you do not want to sound mean to them, then try a little tact.

Does my breath stink?

It could use some help.

Do I chew too loudly?

Just a bit.

Do I sing too weird or badly?

Not always, some songs could sound better with work.

Being blunt is not always a good thing.

Telling the truth is a good thing, but there is nothing wrong with being aware of other people's feelings...if you care little on how they will respond to you, then you being truthful in this case is also being insensitive.

Truth can hurt some people.

Tactfulness is a good way to soften the blow and still be truthful.

People ask for the truth but they do not really want it unless it is a positive truth. No one likes to hear negative things about themselves. Maybe you could try going about things in a less harsh way.

Because the truth hurts, and nobody likes to hurt.

Next time someone asks say "do you honestly want me to tell you the truth?" if they say yes then give it 2 them str8. If the snap at you say " I asked you did you want the truth so don't ask me if you don't want to hear the truth

A lie is a lie... just because they write it down and call it history, doesn't make it the truth. We live in a world where seeing is not believing. Where only a few know what really happened.

they don't wanna hear the truth . That happens to me ALL the time but I really don't care . When they blow up on me i say "You asked me for the truth , If you don't like my opinion then don't ask for it . Simple as that .

People want you to tell them only what they want to hear, even if it's a lie. If they can't handle the truth, they seriously shouldn't ask.

First of all if you want to keep your friends, learn to be more tactful. Secondly, people don't like the truth because they like to believe what they want.

That is annoying. If people don't want to know the honest answer, they shouldn't ask. Or if it's embarrassing then maybe they should use better hygiene.

Say it in a nicer way? Like, try to uses suggestions. Hint at things.. etc
