Do trees grow at night? and if not do they sleep.?

Only Animals can sleep.

Plants photosynthesise only during the day, because sunlight is needed as an energy source, and they respire both during the day and at night. Respiration is the process by which mitochondria in cells produce energy using glucose, which is in turn used to increase the biomass of the plant. So yes, my guess is that plants do grow at night.

From what I know, trees only undergo photosynthesis when there is light.

At all times, trees undergo cellular respiration just like humans do. That is, they consume oxygen and produce carbon dioxide. They have to do this for energy and do grow or whatever else trees do.

So I would say they do grow at night; they are always growing. The only difference between night and day for a tree would be actually creating energy, which only happens under the sun.

If you are really quiet and go into a forest where the trees don't know you're there, you will find them having top secret meetings. I don't think they sleep... ever. They don't move around much or use their brains, so I don't think they need it like we do.

Plants store the energy created during the day through photosynthesis. So therefore they can continue to grow during the night as the plant soaks up water. One factor on plant growth is the temperature and as night is cooler than day the plant growth slows.

So yes, plants do grow at night though perhaps they grow as they sleep?

I don't think they do as there is no sunlight to convert glucose.
