Live-in Nanny Salary?

For those with a live-in nanny, how much do you pay them per week or month? And what accommodations do you provide other than room and board?

Do you pay them on the books or in cash?

Update:

Just one baby, who will be 12 weeks old when we're going to need a caretaker. Can I ask what your hourly/weekly rate was? I don't even have a ballpark.

It depends on several factors, such as where you live, number of children, age of children, qualities you're looking for in a nanny, what your nanny is doing, the house she is working, and much more. Now, I've not had a nanny, but my friend was one. She moved to Virginia for a year to live with the family she was nannying for. She had to watch two children, ages 2 and 4. The 2 year old she had to potty-train, she had to cook all meals, take them to doctor appointments, and basically do everything for them from Monday-Friday. She also was bilingual, and that's why they hired her (she's fluent in Spanish as well as English). The parents wanted her to talk to their children in Spanish only, so she did. They provided her with her own room, bathroom, and car. Since she made the kids' food daily, they just allowed her to eat whatever they had. She could make her own meals with their food on the weekends, even when she was off. They also gave her a gas allowance, "treat" allowance for when she was out with the kids and snacks needed to be bought (or, if they went to the zoo or something), and paid her $500-$600/week. I believe it started out as $500 and then went to $600 after she proved to them she could handle the job. She got all weekends off, except when they requested that she help the family with an outing, then she got paid double time. She was pain in cash off the books.

Since your child is only 12 weeks, it's likely you wouldn't have to pay as much as my friend got, unless you live in a very affluent place. You have to take in your local environment and go from there. You should compensate your nanny for gas money and miles on her car (if you don't provide her with one).

    Good luck!

It depends on how many kids, etc. I was always paid in cash. I was provided with room and board, and then I was paid an hourly rate any time I had the kids with one family, and I was paid a set rate with another. It just depends on the situation. With one family I was also given a car and car seats to use with the kids.

It's going to depend on where you live, too. If you're more urban or more rural. I live in a suburb of Chicago. If I lived in the city, I'd make a lot if I were in an upscale neighborhood. On the flipside, I was in a really affluent suburb with one family, a "normal" suburb with the other.

With the "normal" family, I took care of one 8 year old, and was paid 8 dollars an hour when I had her. With the other family, I had a baby and a 2 year old, and was paid 450 dollars a week to start, and was given a car. After a few months of "proving myself," I was given a raise and was up to 500. By the end of the year, I was up to 600 a week.

    Depends on the person paying.

My friend made $400 a week, being a nanny for 2 kids ages 3 and 5. I just saw an ad on craigs list for one kid, age 8 offering $100 a month. It depends entirely on the person paying.

First, the men and women are supplying you a residence to reside in and meals at the desk. You ought to consult with them what that inculdes. Mostly it inculdes electricty, water, residence cellphone and heating invoice to be paid. Then you must be re-paid to your fuel. If you wish a TV, laptop, or cellphone cellphone that's for your shoulders with the cash you get. I might say $10 an hour. So then we could say 10 hours an afternoon, five days every week. That must be $500 plus babysitting at the weekends WITH YOUR PERMISSION ONLY! Hope I helped you.
