Once a b*tch has experienced one false or pseudo-pregnancy, the chances are that she'll experience them again at every heat cycle. This is not good for her health.

Most vets won't like to spay her whilst she's actually in heat or going through a false pregnancy, but it's best to spay her afterwards, to stop her having to go through this physically and mentally taxing experience again.

I agree, she needs to be spayed as soon as the vet thinks it's OK. They can bag up and get mastitis too, and one of mine even developed deadly Pyometra as a result of a false pregnancy!

It would we wise to keep an eye out for both those conditions and have a word with your vet as soon as you can.

(In the wild, false preganancy would confer survival advantages to the pack with an additional milk-bearing female helping to feed the Alpha pair's puppies.)
