I have a Frigidaire Galaxy washer that fills but won't start the cycle...?

...it just continues to overfill and overflow and the wash cycle never starts but, I can let the water out if I just take it to the end of the wash cycle to start the rinse, in which case it may overfill there as well...

There is a water level switch connected to a rubber hose that goes to the side of the tub. If the hose works loose or gets kinked/plugged, the switch won't know when to stop the water and start the washer. If the switch goes bad - same thing.

If you are the tinkering sort and know how to get into the thing, find the tube and pull it loose from the tub. Stick the end in your mouth and blow. It should hold pressure. If it don't there is a leak in the line or bad switch diaphragm. Now blow / release / blow / release. You should hear a faint clicking from the switch the tube goes to. No clicky - no worky. Replace switch.

Check the switch wires for loose or corroded connections.

Please insert another quarter for the next 3 minutes of cognitive ideas... BEEP
