how to make lemon pie with canned lemon?

I bought a can of lemon pie filling and a pie crust. I was planning to top it with cool whip instead of meringue... the back of the can only tells how to make lemon bars, so I am wondering how to heat the pie? Should I just follow the lemon bar instructions?

I have never evenseen powdered lemon pie filling but here is what I would do. Mix it with water, until it's really thin, add a sprinkle of salt. Save a little out. Marinate the chicken breast in there for at least an hour, take it out of the marinade. Sprinkle a little of the remaining powder over the chicken, place a few garlic cloves cut in 1/2 around the chicken. Bake for about 20-30 at 350 degrees. Let us know how it turned out. P.S. I almost always add honey to my chicken and pork. It goes so well with white meats. If you have any left over make up a chicken salad, I'll bet it's really good in salad.

Your pie filling is already cooked so you don't have to bake it. Buy a Pillsbury pie crust or make your own and bake it, let it cool and empty your can of pie filling into it. Top it as you please and there you go.

BTW, canned lemon pie filling isn't very good. Buying Jello cook n serve pudding is much much better. You do have to cook it in a pan on the stove top, let it cool 5 min and pour it into your cooked pie crust.
