i want a pet - but have no idea what kind?

i want a pet, but i don't know what to get. i've always wanted a pet and my family and i have been able to find some fault or the other with every pet that i've ever looked into getting. dogs/cats are too big for our house. my mom doesn't like reptiles or rodents. apparently, rabbits smell. birds are loud. and we bought 4 fishes and they died way too quickly - so i'm afraid of getting new ones. any ideas on pets that i could get?

Not all dogs are very big. I have a pomeranian that only weighs two pounds. You could try researching dog breeds, in my experience there's a dog breed to fit every lifestyle. If that doesn't work there are sugar gliders, i believe they are a type of rodent tho.

Or you could try the fish thing again, just get one thats really low maintenance, like a goldfish or a betta.

Well you have pretty much crossed out all the options... But I suggest you get a cat because they can do fine in small areas, if you get the right breed. Since, I have quite a few friends that live in APARTMENTS with their cats and they do fine! Actually you could probably have a dog too! But it also depends on the breed. So yeah I suggest you get a cat or dog but do your research first on which breed does great in small environments, don't smell, and aren't loud. Good Luck! Cats and dogs are GREAT pets! (better than rodents or birds or reptiles, etc.)

i have 3 rabbits and they do smell unfortunatly and you have to constantly muck them out which i do daily and i dont mind it. I have 2 dogs and you have to remeber to walk them and clear up after them. Yes fish die to quickly. Birds are constantly quirking all the time. But ... a cat is a good pet because they are independant, they walk their selves and they also catch mice to eat meaning their own food so they wont go hugry but ... this depends on where you live, if you live in a city or town, having a cat is not a good idea because of cars. Maybe a pet mouse or rat is a good idea, i dont know. ALSO try going to a rescue centre you might see something you like. ALWAYS remenber how much trouble animals can be aswell, money, vets bills, holidays ( cant go away unless you have someone to look after them and death can be a horrible thing to exsperience if you get close to them

get a spider or scorpion. a raccoon would be cool, but theyre very destructive in nature, and curious about eeeeeeverything. and theyre not legal as pets in all states, and im pretty sure you may need some kinda lisence to have em in some states. plus, 3 months outta the year theyre violent and vicious towards people durin matin season. but anywayz, not all dogs are big, but dogs take alot of effort in care, cats are blah and borin. reptiles are awesome, so i dunno why she wouldnt like em, plus you can keep em in the cage. rabbits do smell, birds are annoyin..and fish.....well....fish are just plain borin. so get some kinda arachnid or a small reptile that you can keep in the cage somewhere in your room. or a rodent, they can be pretty small too
