Why do I feel like my employer is up to no good?
Well they recently laid off about 60 employees and I was a lucky one to keep my job. Thank god! Now that we downsized everyone finds themselves doing way more duties and picking up the slack of those who are not here. I now have to be Receptionist relief and it really effects my own work but I'm told it's ok (they don't have a choice anyway). So I never complain and I'm always very professional with my work. Well today the CEO's assistant said shes transferring the calls to me because the "receptionist calls are not working" but then when I asked the receptionist if her calls are working she didnt understand what I was talking about. Then she says oh I think their working now. So I go to lunch and tell the assistant and she says she will have the IT guy start transferring the calls up front. I don't get it!!!! The phone was perfectly fine all morning and when I called her she picked up. What are they up to? I don't get it?
Sincerely,
Confused???

Your place of employment sounds very sketchy. I would find another job at a more stable company if you can. Even if you do temporary work that might be better. Or, wait it out and see what happens.

Hard to say, but you might want to order a few more copies of your resume just in case.
