Senior citizens, have you heard of this scam? please read?

Okay so i know senior citizens have heard it all and im not saying they don't know, but this scam seems to apply to them and its rude. My grandma gets people trying to scam her all the time, about once ever two days to one month. This is the recent scam, they say you have won 9 million dollars and then say you have to pay 850 for it to an unknown account. Its probably an of shore account that cannot be tracked in time. If you see please don't buy into it. I am sure you have seen most of it all by now but if you have seen the same scam please let me know

Yes and the scams travel internationally all over the globe.

Even where I am from, there are several cases where even professionals were duped millions!!! A lot of Nigerian scams. Some wanted to ''transfer'' money into your account to save their property from being taken over by the Nigerian government (guerillas, they said)....others would ''offer'' jobs overseas and I know of a few online friends who found themselves stranded upon arrival and their money all gone....

Then, of course there is the ever-so-convincing Jackpot prize and you have to make a payment before a claim can be done. True enough, someone would answer your phone-call and inform you as to how to make payment first. If you fall hook, line and sinker (something like that), you will never hear from them ever again.

So, you see, not only are the senior citizens their bait but everyone who ''believes'' those scams.

I have gotten those in the past. We may be senior citizens, but we are not stupid. I even got a phone call and someone said they were a company associate of another company with whom I had done business, that they had all of my information except my bank account number. I told them if they had all of that information they should have that as well and hung up on them. I did the *69 thing and called them back. The same man answered the phone and called me by my first name. I still did not give it to them because it was a scam. I lay my phone off the hook most of the time now to keep this from happening, as my husband has had a stroke, and he may give out too much information like that if he answers the phone.

This is a well known scam sent from many areas overseas. You are right. Besides sending the money they have access to bank account numbers. Once this info is in their hands they not only get the $850, they clean out your bank account. Anytime you are told that you have won something and they request money, it is a scam. Anytime you are told that you won something and you didn't enter a contest, it is a scam. They target many people but the elderly are more susceptible.

I don't even read the emails i get like this as i know that they are scams. You never get anything for nothing, let alone a bunch of money for just a little. Why people are falling for this is beyond me. But i know the older people are just are naive when it comes to things like this and they need to be forewaned on these matters. They are to many people trying to scam older people.

I also get emails supposedly backed by the FBI, Marine Corps, or a branch of our government. Same scam looking for your money, slightly different MO. Tell your grandmother they are ALL scams, if she wishes to give money away, find a reputable non-profit company to donate to and get a receipt for tax write-off. I have also gotten 'sympathy emails' looking for money for

    1. stranded in foreign country

    2. sick children

    3. dead or dying husband/wife/newborn

Etc., They are all scams, they don't know you, they just send out thousands of emails hoping for that one foolish person to take their bait.

edit: I just got an email about 'my prepaid credit card payment' sure enough it was from someone claiming to work for a Nigerian bank. It is a SCAM !!

Yes, I have heard of that one. Only one that was tried on us, my husband got a phone call informing us that we'd won a car. The caller wanted to know which Chrysler model we wanted, and what color. Then he got down to business, telling us all we had to do was to go on a trip to some place where they were selling lots and homes in Arizona in some pre-planned community. Soon as we bought a new home, the car would automatically be ours. Yeah, right.

HI. I can't find the exact scripture right now, but the Bible says to respect older people; which I do.

I know I will get old one day, and possibly get confused.

    I know one thing; I won't win if I don't play, therefore, I don't need to pay people I don't know money.

My husband told them to send him a 9 million dollar check, but deduct their $850 from it first.

    Surprise! No check came!

This is one of these Nigerian Lottery scams.I don't open them. However if the criminals running these scams could be traced,I would support prosecution of 5-10 years in jail.
