How do you tell the difference between a spiritual experience and an emotional experience?
People from all different walks of life and religious/spiritual backgrounds claim to have spiritual experiences that reinforce their beliefs. How are you supposed to know who's experience is genuine and not self induced.
This question is for people that DO believe in spiritual experiences. I respect people's right not to believe, but I kinda already know what you guys think about it... Thanks

Hope this is understood but here is how i understand the difference. A emotional experience would be say like when some one you deeply care about dies and your over come with grief, A spiritual act would be say you were sitting on a tree stump in the forrest and all at once your over come with this feeling of Joy and excitement and you feel all this love at once for nature and God. Both i have experienced..

If by "spiritual experience" you mean paranormal, or metaphysical in nature as to be classified as an unknown phenomenon, then you do so by means of scientific testing like they have done at Duke, the Monroe Institute, and many other places.

There is none. Emotions are simply hormonal reactions within the frame. This naturalisation of feeling, I feel, is some thing that believers uncover obscene. They might select that feelings stay a thriller.

People are simply misinterpreting emotional or psychological feelings/experiences as "spiritual" experiences.

Seeing my first child immediately after birth was an emotional experience.
Truly understanding that Jesus died FOR ME, was a spiritual experience.

If the Bible and Jesus and God's revealed will are totally uplifted it's spiritual.
