How good will the Cardinals be if they trade for Roy Oswalt?

They have to be considered the favorites in the NL, right? They already have Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainright as their starters. Adding Oswalt in the mix just would make that great starting pitching even better. And let's not forget about that offense with Pujols and Holliday!

This rotation would be absolutely devastating. I can't even imagine how anyone would be able to deal with Wainwright Carpenter Oswalt Garcia in a three or four game series. If a guy with a 2.21 ERA is your #4 pitcher that means you have the best rotation in the MLB, hands down.

The only thing that worries me as a Cards fan is the money involved because we need to sign Pujols and possibly resign Carpenter down the line. I bet Oswalt restructures his contract to join forces with the redbirds!

A trade for Oswalt would give the Cards the best top-three rotation in the league, by far. They would easily jump to the favorites in the NL. I am really hoping that Oswalt does go somewhere, because I'd like to see what he could do on a team that actually gives him run support.

Even though he's up there in age, he is still a quality pitcher.

I don't see him getting traded, though. He is now asking for teams to pick up his contract ($16 million a year or so) for the next pair of years, and nobody will do that.

First off Jaime Garcia is putting up great numbers and is the Best Rookie Pitcher in the N.L. right now ( Sorry Strasburg has yet to prove himself ). The only game i have seen this Year was one he pitched and he shut the braves down.

I would Rather Have Haren on my Staff (don't get me wrong Oswalt is one of the best trust me in 2005 i HATED him more then the Cubs) But they won't get him unless Carpenter wants to stay for less money

They would be favs not only in the NL, but the WS favorite. Imagine Wainright,Carpenter, Oswalt versus NY's Sabathia, Hughes, Pettitte

Unstoppable, maybe even beat the Yankees. Wainwright, Carp, Oswalt and either Garcia or Penny would be an unstoppable rotation, especially with Garcia or Penny and Lohse in the 'pen. Holliday is finally playing like when we first got him last year, and Pujols is still Pujols.

No doubt if the Cards got Oswalt their starting pitching would be lights out. They still have other issues though, who will they have to give up? whats there bullpen going to be like? Even if they do add Oswalt I don't think they are they favorites.

That would obviously create the best rotation in the NL, but they gotta shake off the Reds before all the WS talk.

    They would be amazing.

Who are they going trade? Their entire minor league system? They don't have the prospects to swing Oswalt.

Good but not great. They'd lose in the playoffs to either the Braves or Giants.

I think that would make the N.L. favs to make World Series. If they really wanted to, they could get Lance Berkeman too.
