  • Including dividends into monthly returns calculation?

Okay, so let's say you're trying to calculate the monthly return of a stock. You have the beginning price of $42.61 for the month, the closing price of $42.09 for the month, and according to Yahoo! Finance a dividend of around 0.195 paid during that time. Which is the right formula to use in calculating this stock's monthly return, and how would I include dividends into the calculation?

  • Evaluate these integrals...?

Hi there. I am having some problems answering these integrals and would appreciate the help. They each have to do with rational functions and/or integration.

1)Evaluate the integral: 6/(x+a)(x+b) dx (assume that a does not equal b)

    2) (x^3-4x-7)/(x^2-x-6) dx from x=0 to x=1

    3) 26/(x-1)(x^2+25) dx

    4) 7dx/x(x^4+8)

    5) 15arctanx/x^2 dx

  • Two cars start from rest at a red stop light.?

Two cars start from rest at a red stop light. When the light turns green, both cars accelerate forward. The blue car accelerates uniformly at a rate of 3.5 m/s2 for 4.3 seconds. It then continues at a constant speed for 7 seconds, before applying the brakes such that the car’s speed decreases uniformly coming to rest 172.33 meters from where it started. The yellow car accelerates uniformly for the entire distance, finally catching the blue car just as the blue car comes to a stop. It takes 137.3 meters for the blue car to travel before its brakes are applied.

What is the acceleration of the blue car once the brakes are applied?

    Thanks for helping!

  • Question about early action?

I'm applying for a college early action style, and when it says "apply by November 2nd," does this mean that I have turn it in before November 2nd or does this mean that November 2nd is the last date to apply for early action?

    Thanks a million for answering.

  • Beltran, Boesch, Willingham, or Young?

I know it's probably a bit late to be asking fantasy baseball questions on Yahoo! Answers these days, but considering my team is going to be in my league's playoffs next week, I gotta ask anyways.

So, heading into the playoffs, I'm looking pretty solid. This is especially the case with my OF. I've got Kemp, Crawford, Holliday, Upton, Alex Gordon, Franceur, Cuddyer, Mike Carp and Drew Stubbs on my team and able to start (Note: 10 team league). My weakest link is Chris Young. Yeah, he has 17 HRs, 57 RBIs, and 18 SB...but he has a .232 AVG (.119 in the last month), by far the worst of my team, and I have hardly used him in the past few weeks.

I'm thinking of dropping Young, but I don't know for whom. These are currently my top three options:

    a. Carlos Beltran: .284, 15 HR, 68 RBI, 65 R, 3 SB

    b. Josh Willingham: .249, 22 HR, 73 RBI, 52 R, 4 SB (really hot, but I don't know if it will last)

    c. Brennan Boesch: .285, 16 HR, 54 RBI, 74 R, 5 SB

So, what should I do? Who should I pick up? Or is Young still my best option? I would really appreciate your answer!

  • Can you rate my fantasy team?

Alright, so I just did my ten team draft a couple of hours ago and this is the team I ended up drafting:

    QB- Brett Favre

    RB- Rashad Mendenhall

    RB- Jamaal Charles

    RB/WR- C.J.Spiller

    WR- Randy Moss

    WR- Greg Jennings

    TE- Vernon Davis

    D/ST- Ravens

    K- David Aikers

    Bench- T.J. Houshmanzadeh (WR)

    Bench- Eli Manning (QB)

    Bench- Steve Slaton (RB)

    Bench- Devin Aromashadu (WR)

    Bench- Greg Olsen (TE)

    Bench- Saints D/ST

    Bench- Rashad Jennings (RB)

So what do you think? Anywhere good? Anywhere bad? Anyone I should drop or try to trade? Please be specific as possible.

  • Better Cubs manager: Dusty Baker or Lou Pinella?

It's an interesting debate because while Sweet Lou did lead the Cubs to the playoffs more times than Baker (2>1) and managed one of the best Cubs team of the past fifty years (2008), he never won a playoff game in Chicago while Baker had a Cubs team one win away from a World Series.

Also, this question is only about the two's time as CUBS manager, so Baker's time in San Fransisco or Pinella's time in Cincinnati and Seattle DON'T COUNT in this debate. With that being said, what do you think?

  • How good will the Cardinals be if they trade for Roy Oswalt?

They have to be considered the favorites in the NL, right? They already have Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainright as their starters. Adding Oswalt in the mix just would make that great starting pitching even better. And let's not forget about that offense with Pujols and Holliday!

  • fantasy baseball trade. help?

    The trade I've been offered

    I get:

    Jayson Werth (.342, 7 HR, 27 RBI, 25 R, 2 SB)

    Josh Johnson (3 W, 3.06 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 54 Ks)

    I give up:

    Brett Gardner (.333, 2 HR, 12 RBI, 28 R, 16 SB)

    Andy Petite (4 W, 2.08 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 27 K)

I'm willing to give up Petite for Johnson. It's really the Gardner for Werth thing I'm worried about because I don't want to give up my best basestealer. He also leads the league in basestealing, at least eight times more than Werth. What do you think?

  • Something UNBELIEVABLE has just happened in my fantasy baseball league. how should i take advantage?

Okay, so today one of the players in my league, whether on an error or if he did it on purpose, dropped all of the players in his league except for Miguel Cabrera. That's right, everyone! No joke! They include:

    Derek Jeter

    Matt Holliday

    Jorge Posada

    Ryan Doumit

    Jorge Cantu

    Dan Uggla

    Kevin Kouzmanoff

    B.J. Upton

    Bobby Abreu

    Josh Hamilton

    Vladimir Guerrero

    A.J. Burnett

    James Shields

    Barry Zito

    Scott Kazmir

    Nate Robertson

    Raul Ibanez

    Cody Ross

    Martin Prado

    Russell Branyan

This means that for whatever reason, all of these players are free agents. So, I'm asking you: who should I pick up for my team? My current roster looks like this:

    C- Ivan Rodriguez

    1B- Justin Morneau

    2B- Alberto Callaspo

    3B- Mark Reynolds

    SS- Jason Bartlett

    2B/SS- Alex Gonzalez

    1B/3B- Micheal Young

    OF- Matt Kemp

    OF- Franklin Gutierrez

    OF- Vernon Wells

    OF- Brett Gardner

    OF- Kosuke Fukudome

    UTIL- Erik Aybar

    P- Zack Greinke

    P- Andrew Bailey (reliever)

    P- Fransisco Cordero (reliever)

    P- Matt Garza

    P- Ryan Franklin (reliever)

    P- Clay Buckholz

    P- Andy Petite

    P- C.C. Sabbathia

    P- Colby Lewis

    Bench- Derek Lee (1B)

    Bench- Kevin Correia (SP)

    DL- Brian Roberts

  • kelly johnson for matt garza?

It seems like a pretty good trade to me. I have Alberto Callaspo at 2B right now, who Johnson has been better this season and I have Brian Roberts on the DL. Plus, I have James Shields and Yvoni Gallardo in waivers in my league, so I could easily replace Garza. But I just want to make sure. What do you think?
