Well until recently people who were diagnosed with heart disease or had an elevated cholesterol were urged to avoid eating egs due to their high cholesterol content. But this view has changed somewhat as more news has come out about the health benefits of eggs.

So here are the facts:- Hopefully this will help you to think again regard egg nutrition of Yolk vs. White.

Egg yolks are indeed full of cholesterol. Like most cholesterol rich foods, they are jam-packed full of important nutrients, especially the fat-soluble vitamins and essential fatty acids.. These fatty acids have essential benefits which are necessary for the brain and proper retinal function in the eye, healthy skin, hair, libido, reproduction, growth and response to injury.

In fact, an egg yolk is so comprehensive that a few a day would offer better insurance than a multivitamin. But most importantly of all the yolk contains most of the nutrients in the egg. Egg whites on the other hand contain very few nutrients. The only thing that could justify their consumption is their attachment to their companion the yolk.

Finding the right egg is really important. Pastured eggs, meaning eggs from chickens that are free to forage for grass and insects, are much higher nutritional quality than eggs from confined chickens. The marginal increase in value, or course, is found mostly in the yolk.

Eggs are low in calories. Nutritional scientists recommend that we eat at least an egg a day. Unless of course, you have high cholesterol. High blood cholesterol is an effect of saturated fat which is found in such foods as:- Fatty processed meats, full fat milk, hard cheese, cream, butter, lard, pastries cakes and biscuits.

So fear not. You are now armed with the raw facts. This shows that missing out on a the egg yolks means you are missing out on the nutrition in your breakfast.

Take heart in this the next time you enjoy the incredible, edible egg yolk.

The yolk is actually the best part of an egg as it contains far more nutrients and also in greater amounts than the white.
