How can I get my chihuahua to stop barking?

I would get a remote control shock collar. I swear.. Say no firmly and give him a quick jolt. Once or twice is all it takes. It may sound mean, but so is not training your dog so he can be part of the family.

Well, first of all, Chihuahuas were born to bark. I've never known a Chihuahua that wasn't a barker. Teaching "Speak" and "Quiet" may help. Use lots of reinforcement/reward when he stops barking and/or when he is sitting/laying down calmly. Ignore (or manage) his barking. Never yell at or yank your dog around as this will only serve to escalate the matter. Tether, crate or keep him in another room if necessary, but only in a very positive manner with lots of rewards for good behavior. Try distracting him from his barking with a toy, a short walk in the other direction, or a game. Good luck!

There is a collar that you can get. It sprays a lemon scent at the dog when he barks. They don't like the scent so they stop barking. You can try getting it at Walmart or petsmart. It only sprays a scent. It never zaps the dog.

Watch an episode of its me or the dog where she teaches a dog not to bark. Use her techniques she is really good.

get a spray bottle with some water in it and whenever it barks spray it in his face. Or you can buy a horn and whenever he barks blow it. I know it may sound a little harsh but its not really!

There is this thing (I don't remember what it's called) were you turn it on and it will do something to the dog to were it wont bark. Try googeling it or something

try training. it's a great bonding experience for you both and will help you communicate better with him. you first teach him to "speak" and then teach him to "quiet". good luck :)
