Buying used car from Enterprise Rent a car?

I am thinking about buying a car from Enterprise rent a car. I heard to avoid the most rented cars and try to look at luxury cars. Is that a good idea?

I read good and bad stories. I just want to not get ripped off and a car that's really what it is listed as.

Thanks for any help!

The vast majority of people do NOT abuse rental cars. Just as the majority of people don't kick stray kittens. Those that do have "issues".

Rental cars are well maintained and that usually makes up for any abuse it might have had.

Think about it, do you rent a car so you can tear it up & be stranded ?

As long as you get a good deal, don't be afraid of a rental car.

Luxury cars and expensive to maintain. They are for rich folks.

Just keep in mind that people like me rent cars occasionally and when I rent cars I get the insurance for a good reason... I beat the ever living tar out of the car just for the fun of it. I've never done any obvious damage but I bet I shortened the over all lifespan of any care I've ever rented by a few years.

My advice, stay away from a used rental car. Instead get a nice program car from a dealership and always know that that you have about 3 to 4 thousand dollars of wiggle room with the price. Make an offer, and act like you could care less, no matter how bad you actually want the car. Walk out if need be. Believe me, they will call you.

Source(s): experience, and I worked as a salesman at a dealership for a few years.

I've known several people who have purchased fleet cars and rentals and have gotten very good cars.

I know for a fact that Enterprise takes really good care of thier cars and I think you would be pleased with the purchase of one, but I would still take it to a mechanic first, just to be on the safe side.

Find a mechanic that you trust and pay him to inspect the car you want to buy. I had a friend who bought cars from enterprise but they kept breaking down.

Just keep in mind people do things in rented cars that they would not do in their own cars. i.e reckless driving, and other things.
