chamberlain garage door problem?

I have a chamberlain bran new.. installed and when i first tried to run it.. would not stop and hit the bolt.. had to disconnect the chain.. and reconnect after adjusting.. it would not go in the opposite direction.. would just sit there nad hit the bolt.. so I went ahead and put it at the opposite end to try and adjust the limitor..

Well instead it went in the opposite direction and got stuck against a bolt.. so after alot of back and forth.. i finally put it in the middle and turned the limitors down while it was on.. so i ran it.. was going in the up position fine.. and then got close to cut point and stopped.. from this point on.. it will only try and go in that same direction.. cm at a time.. will not go in the opposite direction.. but at least its not hitting the bolt right?

ANyone have any insight on this? My main problem now i guess is once it gets to a certain spot it wont go the opposite direction.. nothing is in a bind.. nothing is loose or too tight.. sensors working fine.. everything... but that

Update:

Yes.. I actually swapped it with craftsman, same exact model.. being they are made by chamberlain.. only thing i did was swap the drive it self.. everything else was fine.. after much debate I finally got support on the line.. and they where no help.. took the unit back and found some good OEM sensors for the old unit.. works like a charm.. the universal remotes work but the universal sensors dont.. so that was my main problem on the old unit.. the new one just was messed up.. took it back and got my money back. Thanks though! best answer for you!

If their is a wire cable as part of the chain drive when you "adjusted the chain" you changed how the limit switches operate.

    Start over.

Disconnect the door, put it back down to the floor.

Put the chain back in the start position. The portion of the drive chain that connects to the wire cable should be on the right side of the track (as you stand under the motor and face the door) within an inch or two of the bolt in the track near the motor.

The carriage should be attached to the chain on the left side of the track near the door (as you stand under the motor and face the door).

I think the reset button, if there is one on this unit, only clears out the remote codes, but you may want to hit reset button to be sure. Worst case you will need to set the remote codes again.

Turn your open and closing force to minimum and try to get your door limits close to where they were to begin with, but still inside of the all the way open and all the way closed limits.

Do your first test with the door disconnected from the carriage; adjust open and closed limits until they are close enough to where you can begin to adjust open force and close force with the door connected to the drive carriage.

    Fine tune from there.

Good luck and I hope this wasn't too confusing. I am guessing your unit is the 1/2 hp chain drive.

I had the comparable challenge even nonetheless it grew to become right into a Stanley Opener...it somewhat would not count what form you have, the challenge I had grew to become into sporadic and prefer yours the door might close to to approximately 2-3 inch's and then opposite up. i got here upon a small spiderweb on the backside of the door and each now and then it would pickup a leaf and then block the censor's....I wiped clean off each and all the webs and maintained comparable, in no way yet another challenge. i'm hoping this allows!
