For me, yes. It worked for about 6 months now its broken again. Its not a permanent fix, but it does give you enough time to save for a new 360.

ive never tried the penny trick but NEVER try the towel trick it will mess your xbox up even more than it already is. the best thing to do is to buy a new xbox or if you still have a warranty to get it repaired.
