Can an install executable be created from the contents of the program files folder of the installed program?
How many times has a friend asked if you could fix their broken program? Just reinstall, right? What if the setup.exe file, or whatever the install file is called, no longer exists on the pc (or just plain doesn't exist anymore) Wouldn't it be nice to have a program that rebuilds the missing install file from the remaining parts? Is it even possible? I'm not a complete dolt, so please take it easy on me. An explanation or link to the explanation would be great,.....THANKS.

Usually, an icon is placed on the desktop as a shortcut(.lnk). But in the actually file in your C drive, it is a .exe file. Such as Internet Explorer. It is a .lnk on your desktop, but in it's origin, it is called iexplore.exe.
