Technical Computer Question?

This morning I was working on my computer and got a short electrical surge. When I turned my computer back on I get an "Out of Range" message. I've tried resetting the screen resolution to no avail. I think the problem is internal within the system itself, possibly the video card. I get a picture on my desktop but it is distorted and the icons are also distorted. The screen jumps and the letters are garbled.

Try going to safe mode (F8 at start up) and then try adjusting your video settings. If that doesn't help, then try safe mode again and try a system restore (Start> Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Restore).

Have you tried just updating the video driver? It might just be the video card BUT you can always just try the driver update and then you can move from there.
