What is up with this H.R.5741 slavery type bill being passed in congress people are freaking out about?

This bill is introduced by Charlie Rangel in every legislative secession. It is to reestablish the draft, which is not slavery by the way. It has no support other then Congressman Rangel but it is his way to point out that minorities and the poor make up a disproportionate number of our military. He thinks a draft where everyone, rich or poor have to serve would be better then our volunteer military.

This measure has never made it out of committee, has no cosponsor and has zero chances of passing. It is protest Ragel has been doing for years since his constituents in Harlem send many of their children into the military, far more then wealthy neighborhoods.

Yes,the H.R. 5741 is a slavery bill because it does say that all Americans age 18- 42 will have to serve some type of service whether it's military or citizian service. The bill also states that,it's our obligation. May I add that it was introduced July 15.2010. I'm also tracking this bill.

I'm not opposed to compulsory peace time service It is a good investment in the nation's ability to defend itself. This bill however does more than resemble Nazi style politics, it actually goes further than even the Nazis dared.

First off, historically conscripted armies have not fared well on the battlefield. Conscripts faced against all volunteer forces are routinely trounced. It's just not in our best interest to bolster volunteer forces with drafted recruits.

Now on to what I find especially abhorrent about this bill.

Basically until your 42 they can up and drag you off. The way the bill is written it's essentially any time they want at their discretion. They can on the fly just invent things you can be made to do, any training you get can extend your service time and the bill is written so loosely that you can literally be scooped up out of your house and put on a chain gang building a road without any appeal, any stay or any chance to fight back legally. This isn't just a military draft this is a flat out if we want you we'll take you and if you don't like it tough. The president can define without any other input or oversight whatever qualifies and change it on a whim. That is just wrong on every possible level. It tuns the office of the presidency into a limited kingship.

This bill is a vile spawn of insanity. An open power grab that goes against every aspect of Democracy and human rights this nation was founded on. Who ever wrote this bill needs to be draggeed out of office and shipped to the nearest hell hole 2 bit dictator run nation and made to live there for 2 years.

Slavery? But these people would be paid and compensated with benefits. Big error. Looks to me to be a return of the draft. Many people are not happy with an all volunteer military. Patriotism, God and love of country all kinda slide by the road side in a volunteer service. Love of country is not the main reason young people join the military.

I see another problem, this bill is "sponsored" by Charles Rangel. Cant have much of a chance of survival when the sponsor is in deep do do with Congress.

Oh yes, I have known about this for some time now, and that is probably going to be Obama's private army, who he will require to be his nazi acting civil army. This is another back room conspiracy against the American people. They will be ordered to exterminate any person who does not agree with the President. I call it " nazi rule", and it will start a civil war, and that is the total purpose of this, divide and conquer. He wants enough enlised to search every single resident , disarm the citizens , and be sure they can not fight back. I wonder if the USA citizens will follow his orders, if they do, it could be a blood bath.

I'm conflicted on this one. Like others have said it's a terrible bill but it would be interesting to see them try to pass it. Might be the spark that's needed to start a fire under folks who've been on the sidelines. I've been keeping an eye on this one for a while, along with the anti second amendment trash being pushed by Hastings and a few other dems. Thanks for the heads up!

This rumor was started by Prison Planet which is run by Alex Jones, the conspiracy freak. When Obama was running for President he proposed a plan where the govt would contribute money to people willing to volunteer their time to their communities. It is not mandatory! It was posted that way on the Obama/Biden website. Alex Jones who claims the government is going to put us all in FEMA camps and systemically murder us is the one keeping this stupid rumor going. Obama is forming a Civilian Defense Force, what better way to find his 45,000 than with mandatory service. No one has yet figured out what this CDF is for but hey, that's hope and change for you, enjoy it.

I seem to remember that the dems were accusing the Republicans of this. I guess the progressives LIED yet again.
