Xbox 360 connected to the internet, but not to Xbox Live. What can I do?

I'm at my wit's end with this problem. I haven't been able to connect to Xbox Live recently. After testing my connection to Xbox Live dozens of times, it says I am connected to the internet, but the little loading bar for the connection to Live goes up once, stops, and says it can't connect.

I've enabled DMZ in my router, opened all of Live's required ports, I've talked to their tech support, and no Parental restrictions are set. I've gone into the DMZ's settings and changed the IP back and forth from 192.168.2.2 (my 360's IP address) and 192.168.2.5. The 2.2 address once allowed me to successfully connect to games in Red Dead Redemption. Now that IP removes my ability to connect to Xbox Live entirely. The 2.5 address allows me to connect to Live, but I can't connect to many online games, nor join/host parties easily. I've had the 2.2 IP address on my DMZ for quite some time and I've only just found problems with it in the last couple of days.

I've scoured Microsoft's Xbox 360 technical support pages to no avail.

My 360 is directly connected to my router.

I've added all of Live's ports to my router and my Windows Firewall.

I've restarted my router, modem, and 360 countless times.

2 days ago this problem first surfaced. It began working again after I added 2 new ports into my router. It then worked for the rest of the day and all of the next day. Today the problem returned. I've run out of ideas and options. I've reset my 360's network settings to factory default, I've tried manually entering all of the digits, I spent 30 minutes with tech support running back and forth between my basement and my router turning off and turning on things over and over.

tl;dr - 360 won't connect to Live, but it is connected to the internet. Tried many solutions. None of them worked for long. I need a way to actually connect to Live, AND play big online games like Red Dead Redemption.

Please help.

Alright, this explanation is going on the basis you have a laptop, or computer nearby. If there isn't add more details and I will alter my answer. Alright... what you are going to do is plug in your xbox 360 via ethernet to your laptop/computer.

Now, go to Start>Control Panel>Network and Sharing Center>Manage Network Connections.

At this point... you will see at least two things. One is your Wireless Network Connection... and the other is your Local Connection (Ethernet). You want to highlight both of these and right click. There should be an option of bridging the connections...select this option.

Now... go back to your xbox to change the IP address once again. To find out what your IP address is... go back to the computer (sorry to make you go back and forth) and go to ....

    Start>Run>Type in CMD>Type in ipconfig

At this point your IP address is either listed as IP address or IPv4 address.

It should be in the pattern 111.111.1.11 Not those numbers but that order.

Copy that IP address into your xbox, and the subnet mask, and the gateway.

I recommend you do the subnet mask and the gateway first because we will alter the IP address.

When you are entering the IP address... change the last digit of the address by going up or down by one number. Here is an example...

    Say your IP address is...

111.111.1.11 You will either change it to...

    111.111.1.12

    or

    111.111.1.10.

By doing this.. you are creating an opening in your wireless network for it.

If you are connected to XBOX live...great.. but you want to connect it through your router.

Disconnect the ethernet from your laptop/computer and put it back into your router. It should be allowed to access XBOX live at this point.

If this did not answer your question... I would be happy to change it and help you find and answer.

    Good Luck!

Run the internet diagnostic test the Xbox has in the OS. Call Xbox live in the morning if no good.
