Computer/laptop experts I really need your help?
So 1 week after my warranty expired I got a blue screen and my computer just shut down. So i turned on my computer again and it's just a black screen with white lights flickering. So I decided I'll go have my computer fixed. So sony store told me they are charging me 100$ for a check up and 699 to fix it because it's probably a motherboard problem.
The thing is, for 699 I can buy myself a brand new desktop or laptop. I am really upset because I payed A LOT of money for this product. I'm never buying another sony product in my life.
This is my laptop

when you switch it on do you get any error messages on screen or a beeps?
Sounds like you took it back to sony to have it repaired, the manufacturer will always charge a lot for repair, I suggest finding a local repair shop there prices may well be better. Though if it does really cost that much to fix then either look at seeing if its something you can do yourself and we here can possibly help with advice. It would be cheaper this way since you can find parts cheaply online and you won't pay for the man hours either. Or bite the bullet and buy a new laptop.

When you first turn on your computer tap F8 several times and see if you get a boot up menu. If you do choose last known good configuration or computer repair. If that fails try system restore.
If it stills justs gives you a blinking screen go into the bios(setup) and see if it recognizes the hard drive and the 4 gig of memory.

How can they possibly know it's going to cost that amount and that the mobo is shot, if they haven't even looked at it yet?
Take it to an independent engineer, ask around for one that's recommendedâº

I'd buy another one If I were you. I bet you could buy a better model with $699
