I have a pretty powerful(powerful enough) computer, why does it shut down during game-play?

I have an AMD Sempron 3000+ CPU, CPU speed is2.0Ghz, my RAM is 2.0gigs, my video card is ATI Radeon Graphics Processor AGP (0x94C4), and I have well enough room on my hard drive. So why is it that when I play games that my screen goes blank? No type of recovery process, aside from shutting down the machine physically, works. I re-start, and everything works fine.

Update:

I have gone through all the preliminary processes, i.e. cleaning system(spy/adaware checks, dsk cleanup, defrag etc.), cleaning physical computer(removing bttery, components, vacuuming, and using compressed air), my question at this point is more technical than rudimentary.

Update 2:

This problem occurs after only about 2 minutes of play, even if that time is just dedicated to "booting up" a game.

Update 3:

Thanks for trying computer guy

I suspect your video card is overheating. Get some canned air, and unplug your computer, pop the side off, and blow the dust bunnies out of there.
