  • I have a pretty powerful(powerful enough) computer, why does it shut down during game-play?

I have an AMD Sempron 3000+ CPU, CPU speed is2.0Ghz, my RAM is 2.0gigs, my video card is ATI Radeon Graphics Processor AGP (0x94C4), and I have well enough room on my hard drive. So why is it that when I play games that my screen goes blank? No type of recovery process, aside from shutting down the machine physically, works. I re-start, and everything works fine.

  • What core unit band had the most members?

I'm looking for the band that had the largest number of musicians making up the core group...i.e. Chicago-8, White Stripes-2, etc. I don't need to know groups with add-ons, as in "The Who perform with the London Symphony Orchestra"(that would be 223 people, but that doesn't count), or Pink Floyd's back up singers(they don't record with the Floyd, most back up singers are hirees from the musician's union)

  • Whe're you at?

What the hell? Am I ignorant or is "at" in that sentence a dangling participle? Can anyone tell me why a dangling participle is wrong? Is it wrong? And why are marketing companies dumbing-down our language and making it ok to be ignorant in speaking, and writing? I don't remember the name of the company, but I recently saw a POSTER on a store with some cell-phone company using the catch-phrase "Where you at?" It was obviously marketed to the African-American people, due to the fact that all three of the people on the poster looked like "thugs". Are they trying to imply that if you are black, you will use an incorrect dangling participle? Funny what get's out to the people, I'm sure, in any country.

  • Why is it that more and more people don't care for spelling correctly?

Is our nation and language being "dumbed down" by the rising trend of a lack of care for spelling? Where are the teachers? Why are people who can not pass a basic spelling exam being allowed to graduate schools? Am I being too crotchety? Doesn't anyone value the importance of having actual RULES to spelling? Is it the fact that the internet is so accessible, even people who can't afford an education are on-line and chatting? How do even the highest ranked newspapers who employ EDITORS able to get away with errors? Where is the SPELLING POLICE? Mr. bush is working on a special department of homeland spelling as we speak. That's why the national language is being enforced as English. I'm not opposed to it, and I think we should enforce spelling of the English language too, so it doesn't get all watered down.

  • Are rodents more susceptible to contracting Avian Bird Flu than humans?

Is there any credit in thinking this is true? Are we possibly looking at a next bubonic plague? The Dark Ages are re-approaching? How will any society in the industrialized countries deal with the loss of possibly millions of people? Maybe Stephen King wasn't too far off in his novel "The Stand"?

  • what is the NATIONAL average for poverty lovel status?

I believed, at one time, that is was appx. $16,000.00/year...However if that is the case, why is it that the minimum wage of $6.50 that is NATIONALLY recognized, is well under poverty level, adding up to, before taxes $13,520? Is our own government letting the people who can only get jobs for minumum wage(which 42% of all jobs in America are min. wage) slide into the poverty level for some sort of reason? Do they care that the standards they set, set us at under thier own set poverty level? Why the contradiction? What about income after taxes, is the poverty level set to before taxes or after? Does anyone care about this? Can we do anything about it? Will our government listen, anyway?

  • why are "ticket brokers" legal, when all they are are scalpers anyway?

Tool(the band) announced it was touring, when I looked for tickets they were sold out in 3 minutes!! I went to look for tickets "elsewhere" on-line and I came up with "ticket brokers" who were legally established in offices across the city(chicago). They had tickets that at face value were $100.00 for front row, and they were selling them for $800.00, yes, eight-hundred dollar$. If I bought a front row ticket, I'd try to sell it for 800 dollars and be put in jail in moments. Why can they do this "legally"? What rules are they allowed to bend that normal humans can't?
