If there was a public execution(any style), would you go?

I'd definitely love to see some deserving criminal on the guillotine.

Yes. If it was in my state.... I feel that we whose representatives have determined that a human must and shall be executed have a responsibility to watch the results. How can the 'punishment' deter crime if no potential criminals ever see it?

However, I don't believe that capital punishment is the best way to go, for what most people get capital punishment for these days I prefer exile.

Somewhat contrarily, I do believe in corporal punishment (electrical), and I would prefer that it be televised....the 'humiliation' being a large part of the 'punishment'

No way. I do not condone killing or executing in any way, no if's, and's or but's. There was a study done in a certain prison recently where the inmates on death row were analyzed and watched in the days leading up to their executions, to document their behaviors. They laughed, joked, smoked cigarettes, worked out. One man even asked for cough syrup the morning he was going to be executed. Many of them are happy that they are going to die. Why would they want to spend the rest of their life in prison? People that would want to watch an execution are sick people and obviously have no compassion toward a human being who lost his or her way in life. The majority of people in society are religious and if Jesus died to forgive our sins, shouldn't we in turn, forgive others? Executions just amplify how cruel we as human beings can be. Like the Bible says, if a man slaps you, turn the other cheek...don't get revenge.

Too many problems exist with our judicial system where so-called eye witnesses lie or make mistakes, or police lie and encourage eyewitnesses to lie and they hide exculpatory evidence and prosecutors are notorious for hiding exculpatory evidence and are known to coach eyewitnesses to lie... and recently there have been well over 100 lifers and death row inmates being released after DNA evidence has proven them innocent... which makes me wonder how many innocent people have been executioned in the past (like the recent man in Florida who still continued to insist he was not present when the killing he was convicted for took place...).

But, executions are still taking place because it's the law in many states. Maybe ALL those executions should be public. For one thing, that would give something to those punk gang-bangers something to think about. I'd make it mandatory for youthful offenders to see.

I am NOT in favor of executions... EXCEPT in the case of repeat child molesters and those who torture and/or murder children, those who torture and murder their victims, those who murder while in prison due to gang warfare, for those incorrigible prisoners who attempt to murder or DO murder prison personnel while in prison or if they murder another prisoner for whatever reason.

I believe life imprisonment should be life without any possibility of parole. I also believe prisoners should be made to learn a trade and work to support themselves by making footwear and clothes wear for sending to Third World countries. Of course, this is just my opinion.

No I would not go. It is demeaning to the human race to take as entertainment the torture/execution of a lost soul. Better to take that same time and volunteer somewhere to help someone in need.

I think there are too many wrongfully convicted to have a death penalty and it is more painful to lock someone up in a small cell for life than to simply end their lives by a death penalty

Not unless it was right near my home (within easy walking distance, less than a mile)

Would you have gone to see them crucify the Lord and hang him on a cross with two criminals to suffer and die and be made a spectacle of?

What you do to another, you do to Jesus.

yes..I would love to see pedophiles and anyone who commits heinous crimes against innocent children executed in the most excrutiating way possible...
