How can we as a community encourage our black men to marry the woman they impregnate and stop walking away?
It seems to be an alarming amount of babies out of wedlock in the black community and that often leads to single parenting, and the men often end up not taking care of their children. What can we do about this??

Before it can be helped, it must be realized why this is such a big problem in the black community. Since the beginning of slavery black families where not taught nor encouraged to stay together. Sadly this mentality has not been dropped. Until we realize the reason, deal with it and move forward, the same thing will continue, it will continue to be a cycle.
Unless you have done studies on African American History and the psychological effects of slavery and what it has had on its people, you really can't comment on this.

I have to say that Dr.House hit the nail on the head..also its not just us "black men" as you say, there are so many other ethnicities that are single parents, after all you don't know peoples situations, Its not like you are in the bed with them, plus what do you care? If you want to do something in the community, try joining a neighborhood watch program or try attending board meetings that has something to do with your local public schools education, there are so many things you can do besides wasting your time and our time posting an ignorant, bias question, just like the one you just posted.. If this situation happened to you or someone you know, it's real unfortunate, but at the end of the day, you really should take life hard experiences as a lesson, and educate the youth about this..you feel me?

In the UK we have the highest level of teenage pregnancies and single mothers in the whole of Europe. It seems too easy to have a child and then rely on the government to provide for the child and mother whilst there is an absent father.
This is not just a question of the Black Males not marrying and therefore taking responsibility for their actions but a broader issue.

Not you again. How many times will you ask this?
Bottom line "We as a community" cannot and will not ever be able to tell people what to do in their personal lives. Have you considered the women who choose to HAVE these children with such men? Have you also considered not being such an ignorant racist?

A good start would be taking away the perks of being a single mom (i.e., Medicaid and all other forms of welfare). That should be enough incentive for the women to quit "accidentally" getting pregnant.
Source(s): Common Sense! No man (black or white) wants to marry a needy leach who just wants a free ride from either him or the rest of society. - Anonymous1 decade ago
If they grow up without fathers, they are less likely to want to be a father (of course every guy still likes sex)
Maybe the black women should also think more carefully about who they have unprotected sex with?

This is the utterly wrong question to ask.
What can we do to encourage black women to be responsible for birth-control and family-planning since they won't wait until marriage to have sex?

I agree with your first answer, and I also agree with you. It only proves even more that black people need more education.
