It sounds like you may have a virus if a file set.exe comes up. Download malware bytes and run a full scan of your system. Also download and install mozilla firefox it's better.

I agree with the above poster: you should use Mozilla's firefox instead of internet explorer. However I don't believe that is what's causing your problems here.

It sounds like either 1. A particularly nasty malware infection (some viruses are smart enough to hide from your scans) or 2. Vista dun glitched up (it happens a LOT that's why they stopped making it).

What I recommend you do is a complete system restore. What this does is erases everything on your computer, including windows and all your programs and your files, and then it puts a fresh copy of windows back on. Because everything gets erased, you'll need to make copies of your stuff before you do this. And because you're not particularly computer savvy I would recommend you hand the computer to a friend who knows how to do it for you.

I have had loads of trouble with Vista, I hate it.

I now use Firefox, but Vista won't even automatically update that, I have to do it myself.

Saving up for windows 7. It's a con they knew Vista had problems but we have to buy another computer to get rid of them

Download and install mozilla firefox. It's a far better browser than explorer.

Download the Google Chrome web browser and delete all shortcuts to Internet Explorer so that you don't accidentally start it out of habit. Trust me, your system will be much happier!

Firefox is far better. I have used Firefox for nearly two years not and I have not looked back since.

It's a blessing in disguise. Google Chrome and Firefox are MUCH better.
