What is the largest positive ion known, What is the largest atom that can be stripped of all its electrons?
For those of you looking for dark mater, look down. Dark mater is mater with little or no electrons. Dark mater is found where electrons are not welcome.
Catch it yet? The deep you go in a large object the higher the density is. As density increases the outer electrons of atoms find the situation to difficult to stay with their original atoms. They find it easier to stay with atoms further from the center of mass. This reasoning answers why there is an excess of electrons on the surface of an object.
For wires this is known as the skin effect. In large objects like the earth we get the Van Allen belts. On the sun there are so many loose electrons from the huge number of atoms deeper down that the miles deep layer of electrons has fooled scientists for centuries into thinking that the sun is made of hydrogen all the way to the center. False.
The larger the object the more the atoms deeper down have ionized. and the more likely the chance of atomic nuclei to connect and fuse, Fusion

Highly Positive Ions deep down are more likely to fuse atomic nuclei. These large positive ions are the dark mater so many are looking for. In galactic cores, the same effect causes protons to squeeze toward the surface and neutrons clump for denser packing. There is more, but that takes a book I am working on.

Frankium, Uuo, dude, any atom can be stripped of all of is electrons, and the largest positive ions are on the bottom left, while the largest negative ions are on the bottom right.
