ravens in real life are much much bigger than crows but they look exactly the same. Plus Ravens are known to attack humans. I am an example I was Hiking on a hiking trail behind my college and 2 birds that looked like crows but was much bigger almost as big as me was this bird and i am a full grown 160 pound man. The birds were doing a dive bomb motion at me but about ten feet above my head it would straighten out again. then keep doing it I tried to run but the birds followed me as if it was trying to hunt me down. it did this for a long time and i was scared like heck. I at first was frozen hoping if i stood still they would fly on. but no they was after ME. Barely escaping unscathed I found a tree to hide under. there was only one tree on this hiking trail that was about 10 miles long, this happened in the crafton hills by yucaipa, california.. had i not done that I would probably been killed by that raven and there is no doubt in my mind that it was a raven. I have seen ravens attack other birds seemingly just for the sake of it. not like the other bird was weak it was just that the raven is so large in can bully but this is not bullying because the raven you could tell was trying to kill the other smaller bird, and the scary part is that it does it effortlessly with out much struggle.

Ravens are seen as wise and crafty, such as Odin's two ravens( which represent wisdom) and numerous raven's in native American mythologies.. Crows however are seen as carriers of disease, as well as being associated with gods of war due to the fact that crows would scavenge the corpses after a battle.

Mythologically similar, but the two corvid subspecies are native to different parts of the world as therefore tend to be emphasized in different pantheons. As with most animals in myth, wether as totem, familiar or godform, the meaning in the myth is informed by their role in the natural world. Raven and crows alike are always on the lookout for a nice, juicy eyeball.

A raven represents the mortal and physical aspects of death and the more "dark" side. A crow represents the spiritual side of death showing your leave this world and move on into the next world.

(in biology terms the raven is a species of large crows.)

The raven is often times more ominous then a crow. Ravens often represent an unexpected death, betrayal or regret.
