What was your earliest memory?

Mine was my grandad putting his boots on, and he died when I was 2

My earliest memory would have to be the time my dad took me to the aquarium. I remember looking above me and beside me and seeing fish. I also remember that afterwards, he took me to the beach so that I could play in the sand. I was only three when that took place, yet I remember certain parts of that day like it was yesterday. I miss that part of my life so much, just having a dad.

I also remember the day my grandma went into the hospital for cardiac arrest and they found out that she had heart disease. I was 5 when that happened.

I do remember standing outside the bookies with Sally the yorkshire terrier while my grandad went in to place a bet. I guess I was about 4 at the time.

I can remember quite a lot of what happened when I was 4 - being chased by dinosaurs etc, My earliest memory was being picked up by my mother because I was frightened by a noise I now know was the hot water tank cooling down. I must have been very small.

I remember a 2 or 3 second flash from when I was a still a baby unable to walk yet because I was crawling across the carpet in the living room of my neighbour's house while my parents and the neighbours talked in the kitchen.

1941 - we lived near the Bristol City Centre and the bombing blasts shattered all the windows in our house, so we packed up and moved to a rented place on the outskirts of Bristol.

My real memory of that event was crying because I couldn't find my little tin-plate toy sewing machine to pack! Never mind the incendiaries and bombs falling all around us - I'd lost my sewing machine! I was 3.

I remember the smell of my mum's apron as she held me in her arms, I also remember feeling that the outfit I wore was too tight around my neck.

When I described this to my mum she said it was something I wore as a tiny baby of a few weeks old. She even found it in a box to show me - it was just as I remembered it. She always did the top button up and my neck was too fat for it...lol

I always left the top button undone on my babies outfits because of this.
