Amuse me. Each year at pride, the big old drag queen boys come out and hijack the show on behalf of everyone else. Please note I only say this with experienced weighting - I did provide voluntary work for a local community prjoect only to be stazi-ostracised for remaining private about my orientation despite my gender identity.

I use the term with myself in a self-mocking way, but I do feel it has been hijacked by Wags & Divas to derogate the transgender community, particularly when referring to other natal-women in a handbag stand-off. There seems to be a divide of transgender people about the word - some feel it is the equivalent of the "n" word in their community, others, like myself don't take it so seriously. In my view, I feel it is just a word that has been hijacked by rich women and thus by allowing it to become offensive, give them power over it. I use it to take it away from them and to show that I don't take my ego so seriously. I am undergoing MTF transition and ultimately, will no longer be termed as transgender when the transition is complete. Anyway, just want to know your feelings on it - do you think it cannot be taken back as a word we can proudly use? I don't write this to cause offence to others, just curious to your views. Thanks for reading.
