i have never played bass before so i want to know if i should get the 3/4 size of a bass or the full bass.

im 6 " 2 and i have long fingers, so which one should i get.

i also want to know the difference between a 3/4th and full sized bass other than the size...is it worth getting a 3/4th bass in my situation?

You should try out both basses and see which one you are comfortable with playing.

But judging from your height, you'll be fine with a standard bass (especially if your fingers are long).

i don't think the 3/4 size bass is really the question since you're big enough to handle a full size bass, but there are two different scale lengths typically used on full size basses. the 34" long scale and the 30" short scale.

both are tuned the same, and there's pro, semi-pro and student models of each.

the long scale is used on fender's p-bass and jazz bass, as well as rickenbacker's 4001 and 4002.

gibson used the short scale on their basses, but later introduced long scales as well. hofner, as used by paul mccartney also uses the short scale.

most pro players seem to prefer the long scale, but as a guitarist i find the short scale more comfortable to play and to transition too, plus i find with flatwound strings it does a better approximation of an upright bass.
