Which slot to choose for installing the RAMs?
I bought a MSI 890GXM G65 motherboard and Corsair 2*2GB XMS3 1333 Mhz RAM. The motherboard has 4 DDR3 DIMM slots, supports dual channel mode. Now which is the best way to install my RAMs. Go for 1,2 DIMM slot or 1,3 DIMM slot. Coz i remember watching a video in which a guy said to use 1,3 DIMM slot for some reason which i dont remember now and it was a way long back. Can someone explain this to me?
The first two slots are black in color and the next two are in blue color.

Put the RAM cards in DIMM slots 1 and 2. Trust me, I bothered to check the manual.
Here's a screenshot taken from the manual: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4112/4844430398_5d5...
And done. Don't assume you know what the layout is until you read the manual, people.

I am glad you included that because that was way back, lol Depends!!! Look at your slots, are they all the same color or are two black and two blue? Because it is a new Mobo, you are most likely to be able to mismatch the RAM but in all honesty, you don't want to. Here is your best configuration assuming you can run DDR3 because you said it has four. Always match the first two pair no matter what. Same everything, right down to the voltage of course, buy them in pairs and install them in the first two slots 0 and 1 closest to your processor. Match the second pair also for slots 2 and 3. By doing it this way you are eliminating future problems and if all four are the exact same, they will more than likely outlast your CPU. Hope that helps. Ok don't listen to those guys. You can change the graphics chip set but you will mead a soldering gun ang some solder you can get that at any home improvement store. But try getting some more ram 1st. I would primly just buy a new computor thou unless I could find parts for cheap. If you don't know anything a bought fixing computors then DO NOT try this!!! According to the mother board manual ...i could get on line ...use DIMMs 1 & 2 for the first set. the system wont boot up if you use 3&4 first...yes your right...OLDER mother boards had the set up of putting the DIMMs in 1&3 then 2&4 but NOT the newer boards like yours!

It's simple (not like Apple, lol).
If you have 2 sticks of DDR3: Put one stick into the 1st slot. Put the second stick into the 3rd slot. Also, be sure that you put the sticks in properly, so that you have the ram hinges "snap" into place.
It makes no sense why they made the layout like that, but it works XD

Use black slots first.
