Anyone seen "Inception"?

What im actually trying to ask here is to judge my theory. Well, just as I am aware that the ending is merely a marketing trick for the mass, I think I may of come to a conclusion about the ending.

And really, I'm no physicist or psychologist as I am still in high school. And even there my physics is blind to the word "ideal".

This should be a regural question for all of you guys out there who know their business:

Is it possible that when the totem (a spinning top) was originally spinning, and that when it started to wear of and curve a bit (then the screen blacked out and started rolling credits), it was not possible for it to gain the original position (the original spin without the wears of) but only to fall? And if someone was trying to get it back to the original position, wouldn't he be obligated to stop the top first before spinning it again?

If it is doomed to fall, wouldn't it mean that he woke up to reality?

Im so curious!
