Disabled and disillusioned, how many people like myself have worked their fingers and?
other body parts to a nub only to end up on disability. My family looks down on me and acts like I'm a loser. My kids don't because they know how hard I have worked. What to do?
Thanks for the support, it means a lot to me. I've had three surgeries on my shoulder's because they are so messed up. Thanks again.

I have came really close to working myself to death, literally, a few times. I am on disability now, not many people judge me though, and my uncle is the one who talked me into sticking with it when I was trying to get on disability. I liked what he said. His words: "There are people like me who have paid into Social Security all of their lives, along with it, disability insurance, they may never be disabled, so you may as well get on it, there is no reason that I pay into it and nobody get it."
Just made sense. Of course, I got some really cool family which helps, and they all know that I worked hard and nearly worked myself to death, so they don't judge me, at least not to my face.

SSDI is an insurance. And it is very difficult to get approved. So it would be equivalent to your auto insurance paying you if your car were damaged, through no fault of your own, and being criticized for it.
So tell your family if they ever collected any insurance, or do in the future, it is no different than what you are doing.

Hold your head up high and know that you are the best you can be. They are the loser for not realizing what it takes to be you.
