What sauce goes best on gnocchi?

I only really like homemade ricotta gnocchi, honestly. But my brother is a trained saucier and has served potato gnocchi with a gorgonzola sauce aside beef tenderloin, served with a nice microgreen salad and it was ah-mazing. Also, a simple tomato gravy with brasciole might be good.

That brown butter sage sauce is really only good with homemade butternut ravioli, in my experience...but it's really really food w/ it, especially topped with grated Parm & toasted hazelnuts. I think it's icky on potato gnocchi, personally.

A lot of people use a marinara on gnocchi, but I prefer a just a little melted butter with a little garlic and black pepper. The way your chicken is prepared should determine what you do with the gnocchi. If it's got an elaborate sauce itself, go simple with the side dish. If the chicken is cooked in an uncomplicated way, get fancy with the gnocchi, like using an Alfredo sauce.

Try a Tomato III sauce from Marcella Hazan. It's simple and delicious. You should also consider making spinach gnocchi.

you know, the Italian potato pasta. I'm not a fan of sage.

I'm actually not a huge fan of gnocci...but the best gnocci I've eaten had a white cream sauce.

Bolognese sauce.

My hubbie, who is the chef here, suggests any light tomato sauce. He also says tomato pesto goes well, but I am not really a fan of that. :)
