Milk question, about dairy farmers?

I really hate animals' cruelty, and i have given up eating meat, but milk is essential to me and i must drink it twice a day otherwise i will become really weak to walk. So, i am not sure about cruelty to cows when producing milk. I am currently drinking from this brand: "The Dairy Farmers". I've been to their homepage, but they don't state that their cows can roam around freely, or that they are nicely treated and whatsoever. So i am unsure, but they do actually have the best creamy milk.

I wonder whether it is cruel to animals? Please tell me, and if it is, please recommend me to other milk companies that are not cruel to animals, and can be purchased in Australia as well as affordable. I can't really get milk if it is $5 for two L.

Thank you, i just want to make a difference, and to people who can also help, buy free range eggs instead of cage please :)

Oh PS: i would like creamy milk though, i don't really like the natural taste :)

As a general rule, dairy farmers look after their animals really well, go for a drive and have a look at the property, the black and white cows are the dairy cows. As for the eggs, just stick to free range, however this is not a rule of thumb, as some so called free range chooks are still locked up for a majority of the time, find somone with chooks that will sell, or set up a run in your yard, it doesn,t take much room, they eat all your scraps, and get rid of snails, bugs, etc. And in good whether will provide you with 1 egg per day, per chook. You need to keep them penned at night for protection from foxes, dogs etc have fun

im from the uk and there are strict animal welfare laws on how we can and cant treat animal, for the most part farmers treat livestock very well because a badly treated stressed animal douse not perform very well at all and wont produce the full amount of milk at the best quality. good animal well fair costs very little for alot of gain all farmer do it.

but dont look at the cows and say i dont think there not treated well cuz there bonny because that is the proper shape for a dairy cow, and i wouldn't advise walking up to a farm as there may be dangerous live stock as well as the risk of cashing and spreading infections to the livestock. after all a farm is not a safe place and has the highest working death rates in the uk.

if u wont to do the save the planit bit then get organik milk, that way the cows will have to be let outside for a set amout of time and no cemicals used on the land for 5 years before its eaten by the cow. and there baned in the uk but not in the usa and im not 2 shore about Australia but it wont hav groth hormones and steroids used. so dont bye any usa made prosesed food with dairy in it as it may contain milk with groth hormones . (things like cheese and ice cream and cake and biscuits)
