Was there any death benefit compensation ever granted to families of the Korean Conflict?

I have a friend who's family never was given proper notification of a service member's death in combat and never received so much as a DD214. Just want to know if the NOK is entitled to anything.

Yes. It was $10,000.00 during that period. But next of kin generally have 7 years from date of death to claim the benefit. I would talk to a lawyer that specializes in military benefits to inquire about the specifics.
