How do you change privacy settings for xbox live?

I've googled and googled this but can't get a satisfactory answer. Apparently I have a different version of Xbox 360 than anyone else on the web! Everything I've found so far tells me to go to profile and select privacy settings but on my profile that is not an option. I know my xbox 360 "upgraded" a few months back and the look was different after that. Does anyone know where you go on the "upgraded" version, to change privacy settings for xbox live?

Update:

Thanks for the answers so far...unfortunately, they are suggesting to do the same thing that I found on the web. The problem is that when I go to profile, "privacy settings" is NOT one of the options I can select....

The previous answerers are all referring to older versions of Xbox 360. In the upgraded version you are referring to, there is no longer any such thing as "privacy settings". You will need to look at your "family settings" and "console settings" to make changes to who sees what.

When you first turn on your system, the highlighted box should show the title of the game that is in the disc drive (under 'My Xbox'). Scroll to the right one, and go to the box that has picture of your avatar and profile and press 'A'. Scroll down one, and press 'A' on 'Profile'. Then scroll down one and press 'A' on 'Edit Profile'. Than scroll down to the bottom and press 'A' on 'Privacy Settings'. Make sure you are signed in to Xbox Live.

Press the guide button on your controller>scroll over all the way to the right>select profile>privacy settings>then if a prompt appears to exit your current session click yes.
