What do you think that myth?

Myth 3: All Good People Go to Heaven

What is the origin of the myth? After the death of Jesus’ apostles, by the beginning of the second century C.E., the early Church Fathers gained prominence. Describing their teachings, the New Catholic Encyclopedia (2003), Volume 6, page 687, says: “The general stream of teaching was that heavenly bliss is granted to the disembodied soul immediately after whatever necessary purification follows death.”

What does the Bible say? “Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth.”—Matthew 5:5.

Although Jesus promised his disciples that he would “prepare a place” for them in heaven, he indicated that the righteous do not automatically go there. (John 3:13; 14:2, 3) Did he not pray that God’s will take place “as in heaven, also upon earth”? (Matthew 6:9, 10) In reality, one of two destinies awaits the righteous. A minority will rule in heaven with Christ, but the majority will live forever on earth.—Revelation 5:10.

A family in Paradise

Over time, the early church changed its view of its own role on the earth. With what result? “The institutional church increasingly replaced the expected Kingdom of God,” states The New Encyclopædia Britannica. The church began solidifying its power by becoming mixed up in politics, ignoring Jesus’ explicit statements that his followers were to be “no part of the world.” (John 15:19; 17:14-16; 18:36) Under the influence of the Roman Emperor Constantine, the church compromised some of its beliefs, one of which involved the very nature of God.

I'm not sure where the concept came from, other than the teaching of Jesus contain parables that talk about performance and Paul speaks extensively on Charity. Even the Old Testament speaks on Charity in the same way.

Good works are rewarded. They are not the key to salvation, which is a free gift to all, but they are important and they are rewarded. Failure to perform is rejected (read the parable of the talents).

As to where a person resides after death and the judgment, we do know that Paul speaks of multiple heavens of various degrees of Glory. The earth could easily be one of those.

Alright I'm going to be serious about this one since some one they know who they are thinks I live in a fantasy world so I won't have fun like usual. The biggest problem with Atlantis is Plato this guy made far to many tall tales. Atlantis if it really existed could not have been as advanced as Plato claims. And if it did could only have been 100 or 200 yrs. ahead of it's neighbors which is more realistic. And lets say it did some islands but not all sit on top of extinct volcanoes and lets say a catastrophic eruption that blew a portion of the volcano out underwater and weakened the base of the island causing it to slide it the ocean and over centuries of other eruptions buried any ruins under tons of hard lava or there was a St. Helen's type eruption that blew the whole thing apart destroying any evidence of their existence could this have happened maybe these type of eruptions do happen. Here's the other problem if they were so advanced as Plato described they would've realized what was happening and would've fled before the eruption and start a new civilization some where else and we would have both evidence and proof but we don't and we would also be far more advanced than we are today. Unless it happened so fast they didn't have time to leave but this is doubtful. So as far as Atlantis put it in a maybe file and just enjoy the story as a story. Sorry Jason Welsh that was the Minoans and they were known about long before those so called scientists made their claim about them being Atlantis those scientists were just trying to cash in on the Atlantis story.

On the other hand, the whole point of the first epistle to the Corinthians was to solve doctrinal divisions in the Church in Corinth. There is a massive emphasis on the unity of the body of Christ. And the passages in John that you cite are not so clear about the division of heaven -- for that we only have the Revelation, which is probably not meant to be taken too seriously.

So the belief can kind of go both ways. The point is, you're promised eternal life, with God. Paul in 1st Corinthians makes a big point that this life comes with a bodily resurrection, as we walk in the bodies of spirit and not of flesh. Thus this doctrine of heaven is not so far off.

All good people do go to Heaven. However, the "good" must be defined by God and not man. And, by using God's definition of "good," only He is good which is why Jesus ascended into Heaven. So, the only "good" person that has ever lived has gone to Heaven.

As for the rest of us, we are all sinners (not that we inherited Adam's sin, but that we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God). However, God promises to "make good," to save, those sinners who believe in Him, turn from their sins and turn to God, are baptized for the remission of sins, and walk in the newness of life until the end. And, if we are "good" in the end, He will grant us to live eternally at Home with Him in Heaven.

Hey, believe it not not... this is the scoop on Christianity... JESUS LOVES THE ROMAN TAX COLLECTORS, PROSTITUTES AND EVEN THE SODOMITES MORE THAN THE JEWS THAT HE CAME TO SAVE. The Bible writers had to show that Jesus was a friend of the Romans! The Early Church Fathers knew the advantages of making the Christian religion acceptable to the Roman authorities! The new religion began to be known as the Roman Catholic Church!

In all the Gospels Jesus taught to PAY TAXES FIRST TO CAESAR GOD and then to the Bible God… with whatever is left over (Luk 20:25)! In the Roman Empire Caesar was worshiped as God, so the transition to worshiping a Roman Pope was not far out of the way!

“Jesus” never made it easier for anybody to go to “Heaven,” except for the PROSTITUTES and the ROMAN tax collectors. They are entering Heaven ahead of the Jews without the need of any repentance or any sacrament whatsoever. The Bible writers were very sweet to them!

Matthew 21:31 (NIV) Jesus said to them, "I TELL YOU THE TRUTH* (*no more BULL CRAP!), the tax collectors* (*the ROMAN TAX COLLECTORS) and the PROSTITUTES* (*all sorts of them including gay and lesbian prostitutes without any exception!) ARE ENTERING* (*without any hassle) THE KINGDOM OF GOD ahead of you* (*the Jews. Hey, IF GOD THE SON JESUS CHRIST IS TELLING THE TRUTH, Christians better believe him!!!)

Matthew 11:24 (KJV) But I say unto you* (*again, NO BULL CRAP!), That it shall be more tolerable for the land of SODOM in the day of judgment, than for thee* (*the JEWS! In practically all the Bible stories Jesus favors the SODOMITES, the ROMAN TAX COLLECTORS and the PROSTITUTES far above the Jews that he came to save! He imposed all sorts of obstacles for the Jews from HATING THEIR OWN PARENTS against the 10 Commandments to chopping off body organs and limbs including CASTRATION for the “KINGDOM SAKE!”).

Rahab was good! According to the Bible writers she is saved in “Heaven” waiting for more clients. 1,500 Bible years after her death Saint Paul and Saint James are still promoting her in their Bible stories as a RIGHTEOUS PROSTITUTE and as an EXAMPLE to other CHRISTIAN prostitutes who wish to go “Heaven” when they die (Rom 15:4)!

Hebrews 11:31 (KJV) By faith the PROSTITUTE* (*not ex-prostitute, but HOLY BIBLE GOD CERTIFIED PROSTITUTE! She must have served Lesbian clients, too!) Rahab, BECAUSE she welcomed the spies* (*in all honesty, any good prostitute would welcome almost anybody even a horse for the right money!), was not killed with those who were disobedient* (*disobedient to surrender to the Jews. Only this Palestinian Prostitute Rahab eagerly surrendered! Business was kinda slow that day…).

James 2:25 (KJV) In the same way, was not even Rahab the PROSTITUTE* (*not the ex-prostitute, but THE PROSTITUTE! No silly story about “repenting” of anything) considered RIGHTEOUS for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction* (*SHE LIED! – Now practically all the NT Bible writers still REMEMBER this RIGHTEOUS PROSTITUTE RAHAB with great devotion and respect. Israel’s existence in the Middle East wouldn’t have been possible without the help of this Palestinian prostitute -Joshua 2:1-3, 6:17-25. Some popular Preachers here in the USA claim that school kids in Israel read the Bible as their HISTORY book. I wonder if they know Rahab…).

No wonder some Preachers are telling everybody that not all the Bible can be taken literally!
