Internet connection slowing down?

I have an AMD processor, which I have been using for almost 2 years. For the past 2-3 months, my internet speed has been getting down gradually after a period of 2-3 hours and even no activity in between and I have to again restart the modem but again after 10-15 minutes same thing. I am using BSNL connection. I have asked them about this and they have done everything they could including changing the line and modem, but to no avail. They say its electrical interference, which is causing the net to slow down and we cant do anything. I would like to knw if this is due to AMD processor, which i have heard has some problem. Any information will be appreciated

Update:

There is no spyware or any other malwares in the system or it would cause other malfunctions in the system. I could not find any other problem inside cpu. can u suggest anything else that might work

Update 2:

I am using ccleaner and do use it daily so there is no registry issue that at least m aware of. Its not tht net is slowng down, net almost stops and download stream goes as low as 6-5, then again i have to restart modem but after a while same thng happens

It could be the processor or more correctly the processor overheating due to cooling vents on your PC casing being blocked and/or the cooling fins on the processor heat sink being so clogged with dust that eventually it can't do its job and the AMD processor will slow itself down as a protection measure. 2 years is a long time for computers and a whole lot of dust can accumulate in that period.

Also, check you don't have an unfiltered telephone on the same line as your ADSL. I had very similar erratic problems on my ADSL connection and was absolutely confident all my phone handsets around the house ran off a central filter I had installed. What I didn't know was a previous owner had run one telephone directly from the main inlet and I didn't find this out until I traced out the wiring in the roof.

A quicker way to hunt down the problem is to disconnect one phone at a time for a day or two and see if the problem disappears. You can't just disconnect and immediately see the problem go, it seems it comes on slowly and will disappear slowly.

My ISP arranged to have my line tested (before I discovered the errant phone handset) and apparently the signal-to-noise reading with my house connected to the incoming line was 2dB (and about 20dB when they disconnected my house). I am absolutely stunned that with only 2dB of difference between the desired signal and the undesired noise the phone handset was creating that I had any kind of Internet connection at all !!!

As an aside .... I have since changed over to a "naked" DSL plan and immediately found the phone filters CAUSED problems rather than fixing them as they do in an ordinary ADSL connection.

The bottom line is there's probably some little thing sitting quietly in the background, smiling at you but causing all these problems. You need to isolate equipment from the line, blow away the dust and generally look in places you never expected and hopefully you'll eventually track down this annoying problem.

5 Common Problem’s that slow a PC down

    1. Cluttered Registry.

    2. Too many start up programs.

    3. Full Hard Drive.

    4. Not enough Memory.

    5. Spyware & Malicious Programs.

These are things that should be cleaned up on your PC. Power refresh your modem and router, unplug both from power fo 30 seconds or more, then plug one in at a time and let it cycle up to the state it was in, then plug in the other and do the same.

In the mean time you have cleared all you browser history, temp files, junk files, defrag'd your hard drive, scanned for malware / spyware and antivirus scans.

In browsers like IE or FF you can check a box to "clear history" every time you close the browser. Electrical interference can only occur if you have you cable running across an electric fence? Parrallel to the fence is ok, but any other way it will induce. If it is in you house then the person who installed the cabling was not qualified, there are standards to be observed, as to how close computer cabling can be from electrical wiring and he should have a cablers ticket. AMD processors are ok. See if there are any BIOS updates available for your computer? This could help? try asking your ISP for a "bit error rate test" to see if you are experiencing street cable faults? Ok for normal voice but not high speed data?

nah, the internet connection has nothing to do with your computer unless it is infested with virus or something like that. you can run some tests tough at speedtest.net if in doubt. But mainly if you are downloading stuff that's an issue.

before u reinstall or uninstall anything, try to change th priority of ut browser, by doing control alt delete, open the task manager, then go to processes and find ur browser, right click and go to change priority, set to realtime if u can if not high will do. this is a last resort, and DO NOT DO THIS TO MULTIPLE PROCESSES AT ONCE IT WILL CAIUSE UR SYSTEM TO BECOME UNSTABEL AND POSSIBLY CRASH!!!! but as long as u do it sparingly and ddont do it to a bunch of processes u shud be ok.
