When did Dale Earnhardt Jr have a bad wreck at Talladega in 2003?

I ask because I read this:

Sadler's crash hardest recorded by NASCAR: #19-Elliott Sadler says NASCAR officials told him his head-on collision with the inside retaining wall at Pocono Racing on Sunday was the hardest recorded in the history of the sport. NASCAR did not give Sadler the number of G-forces recorded by the black box device and the governing body typically does not release that information. "We do not share those numbers except with the team and the folks at the Midwest Roadside Safety Facility at the University of Nebraska," NASCAR said in a statement. "They want to meet with me this weekend," Sadler said on Tuesday. "But we were told this morning that it was the hardest one they have in their data in history."That means harder than Kyle Petty's 2003 crash at Bristol which, according to published reports, was the hardest at the time at more than 80 Gs (80 times the force of gravity). Other hard hits that NASCAR publicly has claimed among the hardest include Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s 2003 crash at Talladega, David Reutimann's 2007 crash at California and Jeff Gordon's 2008 crash at Las Vegas.(ESPN.com)(8-4-2010)

Now I've looked it up, out of curiosity, and I don't remember that wreck, nor could I find it.

Update:

Jr won the Spring race, finished 2nd in the fall race, and won the Busch race. Those were the only 3 talladega races in 2003, which is why it's got me perplexed.

Update 2:

I read the comments on the original ESPN article, and the crash was at Dover.

I was at that race and I don't remember any such happening. I am a Jr. fan and I believe I would have remembered it.

Edit: Was that suppose to be the spring or fall race? It doesn't really matter, I went to both. It has got to be an error. Jr. won the April race.

You are one of a very few that has caught that error. ESPN has yet to acknowledge their mistake. Good catch.

As you have read, it's a mistake in the article. The crash they are talking about happened a week before the fall Talladega race, at Dover. The error probably happened as the dateline for that story was in Talladega. Here is a link from a NASCAR.com article discussing how that hit was one of the hardest recorded.

I don't know about Junior, but Sadler flipped like a madman at Talladega in 2003. It was the fall race, and it was one scary set of barrel rolls. Nevertheless, flipping over's child's play compared to hitting the wall head-on.

ESPN and Jayski are terrible, they always make mistakes. I do not go to Jayski.com for news anymore, he has so many errors on his website and doesn't bother to fix them. I have even talked to Jayski before, he is a bitter, mean man.

yes thats def a mistake, he was too busy winning thru those years at talladega so they had some wrong information, and just didnt catch it... good job tho

ESPN bought out jayski a couple years ago thats why they both have the same mistakes and coverage
