Of the two ideas the small engine repair is the better one as it COULD be run from a house, with a garage or a shed/work space. Of course, you have to be "trained " and able to show that you know what you are doing, before most customers will be willing to let you work on their machines. Do you have a professional " small engine repair " qualification certificate in hand ? If you do, that is great, but if you don't have such a qualification , you should get one, by attending a training school in your area.

The candy store is a poor idea, too much cost to set up, fixtures, stock, insurance, license, and rent and utilities. . Thousands of dollars out the door, before you ever sell that first chocolate bar. Forget that one.

You are the only one that can figure that out. You need to write a business plan. Go to sba.gov , www.score.org or www.bplans.com for instructions on how to write a business plan and sample business plans.
