math help me please im not getting anything about it?

x^4/x^2 = x^(4 - 2) = x^2

x^4/x^2 = x*x*x*x / x*x = x*x

(x)(x)(x)(x) / (x)(x) = (x)(x)

[x][x][x][x] / [x][x] = [x][x]

{x}{x}{x}{x} / {x}{x} = {x}{x}

expanded: [x*x*x*x]/[x*x]

simplified: x^2

how to simplify:

1. you can subtract the exponents: 4-2 = 2, so you have x^2 left

2. you can cancel out the x's in expanded form: the 2 x's on bottom will cancel out 2 x's from the top and leave x^2 on top.

if it was x^2/x^4, then answer will be 1/x^2

examples:

x^4/x^6= 1/x^2

x^3/x^3= 1

x^7/x^3 = x^4

3x^4 / 9x^3= x/3

4x^4/ 20x^7= 1/5x^3

x^4 is x*x*x*x

x^2 is x*x

so x^4 / x^2 is x*x*x*x / x*x (this is the expanded form)

which is the same as x*x*((x*x)/(x*x))

and since anything divided by itself equals 1, that's the same as x*x or x^2 (this is the simplified form)
