Breastfeeding is only reasonably reliable at stopping ovulation if you are following certain 'rules' which include not leaving more than 6 hours between feeds. So once baby starts sleeping a longer period at night (even if it's only for a few nights) the hormones can kick in and start the ovulatory cycle.
Saying that, I was following all the 'rules' and breastfeeding Dylan every 2-3 hours day and night and I still ovulated at 11 weeks pp. In theory the chances of this are slim but it seems to happen quite a lot.

12 weeks your lucky I've had my periods back since 5 weeks pp!!! I was so annoyed! I am exclusively bf as well, and since starting the mini pill at 6 weeks pp I have had bleeding every fortnight :0(
