what is wrong with stinking Ares download?

Question

every time I try to download a video it starts out ok but sometimes (more often then not) when it is about to complete the download it stops other times I have to keep the computer on for the whole night in order to complete it because next day it won't continue downloading the same file even though there are over 20 users for that video or file, the video stays there waiting for months and nothing I have over a 100 files waiting. Am I doing something wrong or what?, is it that it is just a lousy program? is there a better free download program if so I would appreciate you telling me where to download it. Thanx...

Did you get the latest version of ares here at http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net/.

Its  2.1.6 now.

The thing is with ARES you might be downloading from someone who has an incomplete file and your only going to get what they got.

The second thing is this. If you got a corrupted  download file that was made by ARES. You might have to delete all the incomplete files to fix it otherwise it will just sit there and not connect to anyone. Try  downloading again. If you don't want to delete what you got. Move all the incomplete files somewhere else then keep a few in the download folder then restart Ares.  You might find the bad file this way.

Also heres a tip  my brother got me one strike with a DMCA notice by downloading a movie on ares without  peerblock running. 

You can also try torrents instead and use Utorrent. Just make sure you set ares not to open torrent files.
USE peerblock or  IP blocking program with these P2P programs.
